What is the purpose of the Women in Tech® Cyprus Chapter launch by TechIsland and Adsterra?

The Women in Tech® Cyprus Chapter, launched by TechIsland and Adsterra, aims to close the gender gap in STEAM fields by promoting inclusion and empowering women through mentorship, education, networking, and job opportunities. It aspires to unite professionals, foster diversity, and support women’s growth in technology.

A Pledge for Inclusion and Empowerment in Technology

In a collaborative effort, TechIsland, a non-profit technology organization, and Adsterra, a prominent ad network, have proclaimed the establishment of the Women in Tech® Cyprus Chapter. This chapter is a beacon of advancement and support for women in the tech industry, aiming to tackle the persistent gender gap within STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) occupations and education. The initiative is a testament to the growing global movement to foster inclusivity and encourage diversity in what has traditionally been male-dominated sectors.

Global Impact and Aspirations

The Women in Tech® organization has been a vanguard of gender equality in technology, reaching an extensive network of professionals. As of now, it unites nearly 190,000 individuals around the world spread across 45 chapters. Since its creation in 2018, it has markedly influenced over 300,000 women, providing opportunities for skills enhancement, education, and mentorship. The organization’s vision is expansive, with a goal to empower upwards of 5 million women and girls by the year 2030, a clarion call for industry-wide transformation.

A Community for Growth and Learning

Women in Tech® Cyprus extends a warm invitation to women from all walks of life who are involved in tech endeavors, as well as men who advocate for gender equality in the tech sphere. The chapter is to serve as a hub of interaction and growth, granting its members access to valuable programs such as a Global Mentorship Programme and various educational initiatives, including partnerships with global accelerators like Plug & Play. This diverse palette of programs addresses all age demographics, offering both practical and soft skills training—from coding and blockchain technology to career-focused bootcamps and role model showcases.

Job Opportunities and Networking

Additionally, the Women in Tech® Cyprus Chapter provides a Talent Hub complete with a Job Board designed for HR professionals to connect with potential hires. The community also leverages a dynamic Telegram Chat for real-time interaction and organizes regular meetups for networking and knowledge exchange.
