Safety Barrier Repairs and Reflective Studs Installation

The safety enhancement work that commenced on January 10 on the Nicosia-Limassol highway is progressing on schedule. This project is primarily focused between Akti Kiverniti and Germasogeia, where repair works on safety barriers and the installation of reflective studs are underway. Motorists should be aware that these operations are conducted from 9:00 pm until 5:00 am the next morning, from Monday to Thursday. As a consequence, lane closures are to be expected, with one lane being potentially shut down at any given time to facilitate safe working conditions. Traffic management measures, including appropriate signage, are in place to guide drivers through the alternate open lane. The expected completion date for these essential works is February 29.

Highway Junctions Enhancement

Alongside the repairs, the highway is also undergoing improvements at various junctions for the placement and replacement of reflective studs. This work, which started on February 13, takes place from 9:00 pm until 6:00 am the following morning, but excludes Fridays and weekends. During these hours, a 500-meter stretch of one lane will intermittently close in one direction, with traffic rerouted to the remaining lane. The deadline for finalizing these enhancements is also set for February 29.

Paphos-Limassol Highway Update

Road Surface Maintenance

The Paphos-Limassol highway is currently under maintenance to better the road surface. The work is extensive, affecting both traffic directions and lanes towards Paphos and Limassol. To minimize disruptions, traffic is being diverted through nearby highway exits. This ongoing maintenance work, which started on January 29, happens nightly from 8:00 pm until 5:30 am, except on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The target date to complete these road surface improvements is March 21.

Travel Advisory

Authorities urge drivers who will be passing through these sections of the highways to proceed with increased care. Essential tips for traversing these zones safely include maintaining a moderated speed, ensuring a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead, and observing all temporary road signs and instructions. These precautions will assist in protecting both the work crews and fellow motorists during the construction period.

Please note that while the work is executed during off-peak hours to reduce the impact on traffic, delays can be expected. Motorists are advised to account for potential disruptions when planning their travel during these times.
