Please tell us about your background in the industry.
After my interior studies at the University of the Arts, London, I started working as a interior designer for some of the world’s leading interior/architectural companies in Chelsea, where I then decided to open my own business, after 10 years of gaining invaluable experience around the globe. One of my most memorable projects was working for the Saudi Royal family, where I was head designer for several projects. We opened our Bellapais showroom over 5 years ago and have been passionate about interiors since the age of 18, where I did my first project.
Thanks to the constant growth of loyal customers who highly recommend the showroom, has gained a great reputation on the entire island. Sanel has gained a portfolio to a mix of clients from all around the world, including the local community and expats. While Sanel Kanli Design & Interior continues to grow, their approach to interior design remains unchanging. They pride themselves with their personable approach to each project creating lasting relationships with their clients and repeat business being their highest compliment.
What makes your business stand out among other designers?
I am a perfectionist, so I always do the things in the best possible way. We wouldn’t compare our business model or showroom to any other on the island as every business is different. What I can say it that we have definitely set a trend for interiors on the island. When I first arrived there was not many inspirational interior showrooms and we were inspired to open the first high end Interior Design showroom. I believe we stand out from the rest because of our continuous unique, quality and stylish products. Each and every individual piece is hand selected personally or alternatively designed bespoke for a tailored finish. We bring stylish interiors admired by others, who often try to bring similar products. We not only pride ourselves on our high level of service, it is important to us that our clients always walk away happy and in addition receive a continued after sales service, with any product or service. In your own opinion, what makes home a happy place?
Every home should be individual and it’s very important for me to understand the clients true visual desire and needs of their home. After all it is our clients whom will live there. I believe a home should not only be beautiful and luxurious, whether it be modern or classic, but more importantly should be comfortable and practical. We like to create timeless interiors and believe that designing a home is an investment, more than just a fashion statement. A home should be filled with all the pieces you love, whether it be a collection from your travels or simply timeless pieces that will make your home a true retreat and ultimate happy place, you call home.
What is trendy 2018?
Trends and colours are constantly changing and that is why it is important to create a home that is not only trendy, but timeless, so that it doesn’t date over a period of time and feels as relevant in 5 years time, as they do now. My tip is to buy the main/larger statement pieces that will be classic in time, for instance a sofa or dining table, but then you can change accessories with colour and textures over time, that are less expensive.
