Time for olives

Cyprus is full of Olive trees. The flowers of tree are small, white and smell very good, but they do not have any nectar, so are not pollinated by insects but by the wind. An olive tree starts to get olives at about the age of five. The colour of the olive depends on what time of year they are harvested. When you pick them early in the season they are green and are dark purple, almost black when you pick them later in the season. Right now it is olives season in Cyprus. Between the 2nd and 6th October commences the olive festival in the village Zeytinlik.
