Think tank shares views on settlement process

The Five Finger Mountain Think Tank group has said that there is a need for a settlement on the island which will take into consideration both sides rights and interests.

Such a settlement would also be in the interest of both the motherlands and for the region. General Coordinator for the group Ismail Bozkurt announced the assessment of the process to the press today; the same assessment had been handed to President Akinci earlier.

It went on to say that the biggest obstacle ahead of a change and settlement was the fact that the GC side could not overcome their obsessive policies; it said that the TC side was more prepared for cooperation.

The assessment also took the core issues of the process individually. On the issue of territory, they said they believed it was dangerous to allow the issue of territory to be brought forward ahead of issues such as governance and power sharing as in this way the GC side was trying to pave the way for other issues.
