The Venice Pillar gets a facelift

The Department of Antiquities and Museums has begun restoration work on the Venice Pillar (or Dikilitas) found in the Nicosia Ataturk Square.

A statement from the Ministry said that the restoration or conservation work was being carried out appropriately, taking into account the historical structure of the pillar. It is being cleaned ahead of repair work. The statement also said that as well as the restoration work, they were working with the local council to plant trees and vegetation in the square around the pillar.

The furniture is also being revised around the area.
