The Pope had lunch with the homeless

The Pope visited Washington this week to meet with US Congress and President Obama. It is the first time Pope Francis was in the country and the goal of the meeting was to discuss climate change, immigration and the refugee crisis in Europe.

Lunch guests for the Pope however, was not the members of Congress, but Washington’s homeless, writes Fifty homeless people got to take some of the food that the Pope blessed. “This is a pope who looks at the world from the bottom up. I believe that Congress and the White House gained a different perspective than they usually receive,” said John Carr, director of the ‘Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life’ at Georgetown University to KUTV.
