As many of you may know I have a Hyundai minivan which can seat up to nine passengers. Well, the time had come to take it to “uncle car doctor” in Lefkosa. The problem with the mini bus was that it had no heating.
I called the garage a few days before and got an appointment for nine o’clock on Tuesday morning. Now, I’m not a morning person and had to set the alarm clock for seven o’clock! I have to feed my dogs and the cats must have their breakfast, and finally, my breakfast before I can head off.
It was then time to make my way to the garage in the capital. I parked outside the building, went to the guy in the office to register my van and handed over the keys, which is a bit unnecessary when the keys are normally left in the ignition. No one steals cars here and definitely not my minibus with the Swedish flag on the back window.
I had two options; either they drive me to the bus station (so I can take the local bus home) or I can stay and wait for the response to what it might be wrong and how much it will cost. I chose to stay behind and wait for the answer so they invited me for coffee in their cafeteria.
The Manager of the garage came after an hour and a half and informed me that the problem was a crack in the plastic water containers. Mine had burst and lucky for me it wasn’t too expensive with at total cost of 386TL including labour and materials. He brought the price down by about 60 TL, I really like this place! I will also always receive 10% off when I visit again; I started to feel like a VIP customer!
Before I got to take the bus home they cleaned it thoroughly inside and out which was included in their service package and at no extra cost.
I highly recommend Hyundai in Lefkosa. They have ten guys working in the garage that have various skilled units. It is neat and clean in the garage, with friendly staff and there is a Cypriot girl who speaks good English and translates for us cannot speak Turkish so well. She is called in when needed.
Hyundai Asok is located on the road to Ercan airport on the left side if you are travelling from Girne. You cannot miss it. You pass all three traffic lights and then you will see the large, high Hyundai sign on the left side. Please see map below to find.
