The chain tower in Kyrenia’s harbour

The chain tower in Kyrenia’s harbour, which is often mistaken for a lighthouse, belongs to the Venetian period of 1400-1500’s. The chain stretched across the entrance to the harbour between the two towers. This was a way to defend the city and check enemy ships did not come in. The other tower is in the old Customs House.
