Two Turkish Cypriot bodybuilders were celebrating last week after coming first in their respective categories at the World Beauty Fitness and Fashion European ProAm competition in London last weekend. Cevat Yildiz collected a trophy and a cheque of £500 after winning top spot in the Pro Male Fitness Model category.
His result was matched by compatriot Meter Mevsimler, who scooped first prize in the Muscle Model section. “You can’t buy success,” Mr Mevsimler, 30, told fans on Facebook.
Meanwhile a third Turkish Cypriot bodybuilder, Sami Hamidi, came fifth in the Men’s Physique +178cm category at the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness world championships in Budapest, Hungary.
He was competing for Azerbaijan, after a falling out with the TRNC Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation.
