Stylistics tribute group returning for charity

A Stylistics tribute which first performed in Girne two years ago returns for an inaugural Civil Emergency Service Volunteers (CESV) fundraising Supper Club event at Girne’s The House and Garden this month.

The Funky Weekend show by veteran session musicians Derek Green, Roy Carter and Carlton White, takes place on Wednesday, June 21.

Organiser Laurence Floyd said: “These guys have worked with the greats, as we could see when they performed for us in June 2015. They offer the very best of ’60s Motown grooves, ’70s Soul and Disco and Dancefloor and R&B.”

The new charity event formerly supported the Children in Need Foundation, which closed down late last year, and will now support the purchase of child fracture packs and neck collars and CESV road safety and first aid teaching in schools. The event offers a pre-performance acoustic guitar session by Marco, rather than background music, from 7.30 to 9pm while Supper Clubbers enjoy their three-course meal.

This month’s event promises a brand new menu, “welcome” cocktail and all drinks including imported spirits from 7.30pm until midnight and a selfservice tea and coffee station. Tickets are still available priced at £55 and table reservations are for 12 people but a booking for 10 will secure a table.

Reservations may be made by phoning Laurence Floyd on 0535 879 6892 or The Colony hotel reception, Catalkoy DVD shop or Alsancak Best Seller bookshop, where tickets may also be purchased direct.
