Between Esentepe and Bahceli there is road in the mountains surrounded by beautiful pine forests, which is perfect for cycling or walking. It is most beautiful in the evening when the golden sunlight shines through the treetops creating a majestic natural light, something that everyone should experience.
The road starts next to Esentepe’s school and the football stadium. You can find your way from the centre of Esentepe village and just continue upwards until you come to a roundabout, where you take a left and will eventually come to the stadium (there are signs to the stadium).
Here you can wander undisturbed and the only sounds you will hear are crickets, birds and the light breeze whistling through the trees. There are several vantage points along the road, and from certain points you can see both Esentepe in the West and Bahceli in the East.
After a while you will come to a road that branches off to the centuries-old church Antifonidis. This is one of Cyprus’ historical sites that must be visited!
The section between Esentepe and Bahceli is about 10 km long and takes just over 2 hours to hike, but expect it to take a bit longer, because you will surely want to stop several times during the tour to enjoy the incredible views of the North coast of Cyprus and the Mediterranean.
