Salsa Jam launches sizzling weekend of Latin dance

Girne goes Latin next month when Salsa Jam in Cyprus launches a Diamantes De Rumba weekend in the old harbour and at Catalkoy’s Malpas Hotel to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

A sizzling two days are on offer for ”everyone aged from seven to 70” with 16 colourful dance teams from Cyprus and Turkey already signed up for shows and parties until dawn, headed by founding DJ Salsero, Mehmet Aslan and Italian DJ Marteau.

Acts include the Indian Salsa Twins, Ministry of Dance, ST Dance Centre, the Diamantes De Rumba team, solo and double acts from Turkey and the Cranberries Dance School.

The May 9 and 10 programme starts with an 8pm dinner at Malpas Hotel before a party launch at the hotel’s La Brouche, featuring a draw for two free full passes for the 10th Anniversary Salsa Jam in Cyprus Festival which runs from September 10-15.

Entry on Saturday, May 9 is priced at 10 euros and a free Salsa Bus will run from Lefkosa to the Malpas Hotel at 9pm, returning at 5am.

The Sunday offers a Flashmob Latin Party at Girne’s old harbour from 2-7pm followed by a free-of-entry-charge Wine Tasting Salsa Party at Santoria Holiday Village from 8pm-1am. More information may be obtained from Mehmet Aslan and the Salsa Dream Team by phoning 0533 868 3611.
