Plans to create biggest Park Without Obstacles revealed

The first steps have been taken towards creating the TRNC’s biggest recreation area, the Park Without Obstacles planned in the Domuzcular Burnu district of Lefkoşa.

Prime Minister Ozkan Yorgancioğlu said a neighbouring military facility had handed over land for the 200-dönüm park and a tender for fencing had now been opened. He hoped the park, complete with walking and cycling tracks, a small open-air cinema, seating areas, basketball and volley ball courts, a snack bar, ponds and lake, and a venue for birthday parties, would open within a couple of years.

Mr Yorgancioğlu said the committee tasked with establishing the park would now hold meetings to exchange ideas with civil society organisations including the Chamber of Architects, the Environment Platform and the Orthopaedic Disabled Association.
