North Cyprus imports increase

Turkish Cypriot ports have seen an increase of 11.5% in imported goods from the ports in the north for 2016.

According to data released by the Turkish Cypriot Port Department the nine ports active in the north have unloaded 2,120,000 tons from 875 ships. The ports uploaded a total of 202,000 tons of exports.

In 2015 the ports had downloaded 1,900,000 tons of goods from ships anchoring at ports in the north, while they uploaded 245,000 tons of goods.

The majority of goods imported to the north through the ports for 2016, came through the Famagusta port. Specifically the port in Famagusta unloaded 1,080,000 tons of goods, while the second in imports port was Kyrenia’s Touristic Port with 207,000 tons of goods.
