North Cyprus firms take part in UK’s biggest food and drink trade show

Ten firms from North Cyprus have taken part in the UK’s biggest food and drink trade show – the IFE 2017 fair held at London’s ExCel centre from Sunday to Wednesday.

The event – running in tandem with a packaging fair – was described as the biggest and important show of its kind in the UK by its organisers, who said it was “bursting with inspiration… to source pioneering and new food and drink for your business”.

TRNC participation was organised by the North Cyprus Chamber of Industry, which said the firms had exhibited on a specially designed 100m2 North Cyprus stand, offering produce such as Turkish coffee, helva, jams, “pekmez” carob syrup, pickles, olives and olive oil, lemonade and fruit juices to visitors.

A “catalogue” showcasing the producers of North Cyprus was also distributed, Çağlat Türk, who coordinated the stand with fellow Chamber official Hüseyin Ezgin, said: “We are representing with determination our produce, community, economic and political existence at world fair even though we are not seen on world maps. We present our produce at worldwide standards to the liking of the world.”

TRNC firms takin part were Kantara Food Industry, Helvasan, Arsal Food Industry, Alnar Pomegranates, Ekosis, Lemonadda, Con Trading, Bafra Food Trading, Koop Süt and Old Jhon Trading.
