Kemal Durust

The head of the Turkish Cypriot Education office, Kemal Durust has announced that one of the biggest and most respected universities in Turkey, Nisantasi University, will be opening their doors for business in Güzelyurt (Morphou) soon.

Durust, who was in Güzelyurt recently, met with representatives from local businesses informing them of prosperous news from September onwards due to the influx of students. The university hopes to open its doors to students in the new semester.

The education head said that with the establishment of the new university, the town would see an increase in population and he called on the locals to be ready for this. Student digs and halls would need to be built which in turn would lead to the need for other supporting businesses.

Durust said that as a first stage, the Nisantasi University would be serving 1,500 students; this would increase in the coming period, he added.
