New park is shipshape

Work on a nautical-themed children’s playground near Girne harbour is progressing well, mayor Nidai Güngördü has said.

The new play area – which will include a water-restistance wooden climbing area in the shape of a ship – will be open to children aged three to 15 once complete.

The work is being carried out as part of the municipality’s project to give public parks across the town a makeover, including greater access for disabled children.

Mr Güngördü siad: “We wanted to create a new and modern play area for children in an area which attracts many local and international visitors.”
