Municipal theatres debut in Greece

Girne and Çatalköy theaters made their debut in Corinth, Greece, last Saturday with a performance, in Greek and Turkish, of their adaptation of Aristophanes’ Lysistrata.

Co-director Derman Atik said their version of the Ancient Greek classic, about an anti-war sex strike by the women of Greece, had won them a standing ovation from Pavlos Karayorgis, head of the Corinthian Theatre.

Both troupes now take to the stage in Çatalköy next month at the seventh Besparmak Theatre Festival.
