Tomorrow south Nicosia will be buzzing with art, with the Art Prive House showcasing mixed-media artwork by Irsa Phanis under the title Paradise.
The exhibition will host drawings, mosaics and three-dimensional projects. All of the 100 or so pieces illustrate the artist’s love for colour, nature and flowers.
Phanis is a graduate of the St. Martin’s school of fine art and the London College of Fashion, where she specialised in ceramic mosaics and three-dimensional design.
After her studies and her return to Cyprus, the artist worked as a fashion stylist for a well-known fashion magazine. But she wanted to teach art, so she became an art teacher at the English School, where she taught art at all levels.
She then went on to create the Marti Art and Design School together with her sister, who is also an art teacher.
Although Phanis has participated in a number of group exhibitions throughout the years, this is her first solo exhibition, and it will be opened by the Minister of Education and Culture, Costas Kadis.
