March scheduled for Women’s Day

A march for female rights, organised by the Gender Equality Platform, will be staged to mark International Women’s Day on March 8.

Participants will gather outside the old Suitex building on Lefkoşa’s Dereboyu at 6pm for the walk to Parliament and then to Kuğulu Park.

The day will also see the launch of an exhibition of art work entitled The Child was a Bride at 5pm in the Gazi Mağusa Church of St Peter and Paul.

The show, which will run until Thursday, March 10, opened last month in the capital and is part of a project to highlight child marriage by former child bride, artist and SOS Children’s Village house mother Selvi Sertdemir.
