An exotic taste experience from Mexico awaits guests at Los Amigos in Kyrenia. The restaurant, which is located just off the junction at Bellapais traffic lights, is cosily furnished in the Latin American spirit with guitars, colourful rugs and paintings decorating the walls. The atmospheric Latin music makes us quickly forget that we are in Cyprus. The Mexican cuisine spreads a lovely scent of food. Out comes the waiter with a tray full city of burritos, tacos and fajitas sizzling. The food is placed on the table along with some ice-cold Coronas.
The restaurant has been around for three years and is owned by Durmus and Irina Aşkar. Durmus is the head chef and has been in the restaurant business since 1989. He has previously run both Italian and Turkish restaurants. He has always loved Latin American flavours and therefore decided to open Los Amigos. It is currently the only Mexican restaurant in North Cyprus. The food comes in both spicy and mild flavours and is always served with homemade guacamole and sauces made fresh for the day. Portions are generous. Guests are a mix of Cypriots and tourists who appreciate authentic Mexican cuisine and sensational cocktails at good prices. Here you can have a relaxed lunch or dinner, enjoy a drink at the bar (one tip is to try the good Margarita!) or order home food, Los Amigos delivers all over Kyrenia.
