Limassol mural of Nepalese mother and child garners attention

‘Paparazzi’ street artist is sending a message of support to people in Nepal after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake saying “you are not alone” through a Limassol mural of a mother and her child.

Achilleas Michaelides, who has been doing this for about 15 years said “7,000-8,000 people died. Is that not enough of a reason (to do the tribute)?” The mural is on Ellados Street.

Michaelides has attracted the attention of several people from Nepal who live in the city. One told him: “This is the first time in 10 years I have felt so beautiful in Cyprus.”

“They loved it and they gathered round taking pictures wearing t-shirts saying help for Nepal,” Michaelides said.

Michaelides himself, originally from Greece said on the website showcasing his work: “My aim is not vandalism but a continuous effort to make the world pleasant and beautiful.”
