Last weekend the first Tennis competition at Korineum Golf and Beach Resort east of Kyrenia took place. Korineum Tennis Club had invited the Tennis Club from Nicosia to play. Fourteen seniors and four juniors from each team participated in the two-day tournament that stretched over the entire weekend. They competed in the women – and men’s class, both in singles and doubles. Participants were from Switzerland, Belarus, England, Russia and Cyprus.
New Cyprus Magazine spoke with Korineum Tennis Academy coach Nick Grant who informed us that Korineum Tennis Club is a new but is growing fast. The competitions on the weekend were mostly a social event between the clubs that often play against each other.
Anyone is welcome to play at Korineums four tennis courts. One need not be a member of the club but can just come and play “pay and play”. If you interested in taking courses in tennis at Korineum Tennis Academy all you have to do is get in touch with Nick. For more Information about tennis, memberships and courses are available on Korineums website: www.korineumgolf.com/tennis/
When Nick hears that we are Swedes he lights up and says, with joy in his voice, that Bjorn Borg was the biggest reason he started playing tennis.
