Kıvrak to play at festival today

Renowned Turkish pianist Başar Can Kıvrak will be among musicians to take the stage during the ongoing Lefkoşa Piano Festival.

The festival, which began last Friday with music performed by cellists Şinasi en and Şebnem Yildirim Orhan and pianist Selçuk Bilgin, runs until mid-October.

The next concert, today, September 28, will feature Mr Kıvrak and is expected to draw a large audience.

The pianist and teacher is well known for his music and has won awards in several international competitions.

Other dates lined up for the festival will be an October 5 recital by the Nemet String Quartet, accompanied by Mr Kıvrak. Özgür Unaldi will perform on October 6 and Gözdem Narden Sonel on October 15.

Tickets for the concerts cost 30TL, and the events all take place at the Naci Talat Foundation, in central Lefkoşa’s ldadi Sokak (see map below), at 8pm.
