Kar Pet Travel Scheme brings acknowledgement to the TRNC

International recognition for Kyrenia Animal Rescue’s Pet Travel scheme has also brought acknowledgement of the TRNC’s existence.

Cyprus Today reported last week that the North Cyprus scheme had been accepted as a member of the international Pet and Animal Transportation Association (Ipata) – one of only two on the island and the only one on the North.

KAR revealed that joining the global organisation, which covers more than 80 countries, had been a long, complex and “not problem free” process.

They were told by one of the Ipata coordinators: “We have actually had to add the TRNC as a country to our database!”

KAR’s membership of Ipata is provisional until its operation has passed two final tests in the coming year.
