Hunting dates set for September

The small game hunting season has been reduced to just two days this year – Sunday, September 6 and Sunday, September 13.

Hunters need to have permits that are valid until at least July 31 2016 to legally shoot turtledoves, crows, wild pigeons and magpies, with a maximum 80 birds killed by each person.

Hunting is only allowed between sunrise and sundown and shooting must not take place within 200 metres of homes or less than 500 metres from dams.
