Gay pride celebrated in Lefkosa

The 17th of May International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia was celebrated on Saturday with an event organised jointly by several organisations including the Envision Diversity Association.

The walk began on Dereboyu Street and proceeded towards the Kugulu Park while some motorists sounded their vehicle horns in support. Police escorted the peaceful march along the high street to the park and the event ended without incident.

The International day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia aims to coordinate international events that raise awareness of LGBT rights, violations and stimulate interest in LGBT work all over the world.
