A free nature walk through panoramic scenery around Karşıyaka that includes waterfalls, tulips, a dam and a monastery will culminate in “a fantastic festival”, its organisers have promised.
Organised by Karşıyaka Culture and Art Association and supported by Lapta Municipality, the walk of some 7.5km is to take place for the third year at 10am on Sunday, March 19 from the village primary school.
Refreshments will be available with frequent breaks, said association spokesman Mehmet Özyilmen, who told Cyprus Today: “Walkers will be accompanied by a tour guide and will trek into the hills to enjoy scenery and wildlife including wild pear trees, tulips, orchids, berries and sage, along with sights such as the Yedi Gözlü (Seven Eye) waterfall, Karşıyaka dam, Sinai monastery and Karşıyaka mosque.”
The walk finishes at the school, where there will be stalls selling traditional North Cyprus produce and snacks, various games and live music.
