First-day cover stamps feature Cittaslow theme

Stamps and a first-day cover have been issued by the Post Office to honor the Cittaslow “Slow Cities” network in North Cyprus. Three stamps valued at 60 kuruş, 1TL and 2TL feature the individual Cittaslow member villages of Mehmetçik, Yeniboğaziçi and Lefke.

The first-day cover also features a colour design of the organisation’s logo of a happy snail carrying a village on his back, by Post Office artist Görel Korol Sönmezer.

A custom frank also bears the snail logo with the words “our village members” in Turkish.

The stamps, 30,000 of each, will be on sale for a year and join a February-issue 1TL “dolphin” stamp by the same artist. A 60TL collection of TRNc stamps issued in 2016 has also gone on sale at the philately section of the capital’s main post office, which may be contacted by phoning 228 3646 or by sending an email to filateli.posta@kamu.ct.tr.
