Musicians and film-makers join for annual festival

Live performances of classical music at enLIVE 2

Silent movies are themed with short films by a group of contemporary Cypriot film-makers and live performances of classical music at enLIVE 2, the second annual Live Music in Silent Fil fest this month at South Nicosia’s Shoe Factory arts venue.

A spokesman for organisers of the Pharos Arts Foundation said: “The live performance of original music by a member of talented musicians will marvellously enhance the mood and atmosphere of each silent film, divulge its veiled imageries and decipher its connotation… enLIVE 2 is certain to be an absolutely unique and stimulating visual and aural experience.”

Three 8.30pm screenings on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, January 25, 27 and 29 will respectively feature the Berlin-based film People on Sunday (1930) based on a screenplay by Billy Wilder, the 1929 Russian classic Man with a Movie Camera and the 1927 silent romantic comedy It by Clarence G Badger.

Tickets are priced at 10 euros per day or 25 euros for all three events. More information, including directions to the South Nicosia venue, can be obtained by calling +357 22 663871.
