Famagusta to rock to sounds of maNga

Famagusta maNga

Eurovision 2010 Turkish contestants and MTV Turkey award winners maNga are set to rock Famagusta tonight at an 8.30pm concert near the ancient harbor walls during the town’s week-long Youth Carnival.

The Ankara-based four-man band was founded 16 years ago and features front-man vocalist Ferman Akgül with lead and bass guitarists Yagmur Sarugül and Cam Bahtiyar and drummer Özgür Can Öney.

The electronic and Anatolian rockers played at the O2 Academy in Islington in 2009, came runners-up to Germany in Eurovision 2010 and headline at music festivals across Turkey.

The street festival and fun fair for World Children’s Day launched yesterday and offers live music and entertainment until Sunday, June 11, along the harbor road from Petek Pastanesi, where the concert will take pace, to the Canbulat Tower.
