Escape Beach is the name of one of the most beautiful beaches in North Cyprus. The golden bay with crystal clear water out is only a ten minute drive from Kyrenia centre. Escape Beach Club has all the facilities you could possibly wish for and resembles more an entertainment complex than a beach club.
Here you can indulge in activities such as water skiing, pedal boat, banana boat, jet ski, flyboard and diving. Escape Beach Club has over twelve hundred comfortable sun beds, and you can choose if you want to spend the day on the sandy beach, lawn or out on the wide sun deck. Sundays at Escape is the obvious choice for those who want to dance to the latest music in a puffy sea of foam! Foam parties with games and competitions is the absolute highlight of the week and an activity that suits the whole family. Escape Beach also has shops, cafe, juice bar and a large restaurant with a beautiful view of the sea. A stone throw away from the beach, right next to the sea, you will find a nightclub with an open dance venue, The Escape Club, where party people can dance under the stars until the early hours.
Escape Beach is since many years easily the most popular beach in North Cyprus. Altinbas Group of Companies, who took over the ownership two years ago, has given great importance to maintaining the successful concept that made Escape Beach so popular. At the same time it wanted to develop the Escape Beach Club to its full potential, and therefore recruited a new experienced management team whose job is to make Escape even more attractive. We met Reshat Inceer, local entrepreneur and enthusiast who has recently become the Event Manager at Escape Beach Club. He talks about the “new” Escape Beach Club and how he sees North Cyprus growing entertainment industry.
“I am really passionate about the task of developing Escape Beach even more. There are many opportunities here. This year our management team is new and we have begun to find our feet. The upcoming year, when the team is more established, we will start to do a lot more activities and events.”
Reshat sees today, to his delight, a great progress and growth of the entertainment industry in North Cyprus, with a growing number of clubs and bars opening up. But it hasn’t always been like this. “My teenage years were full of frustration. The world was not aware of us back then. We had no jobs, no opportunities, not a lot of choices in life. We were completely isolated from the outer world,” he says. “When my friends’ families came to North Cyprus from other parts of Europe, I got to hear from them and their kids what Europe was like, about the music, the entertainment and everything else. I have always been a huge fan of electronic music, and back then there were no venues for that kind of music here. After some time I decided to leave Cyprus.”
Reshat was 19 years old when he moved to London, a city he was to spend twelve years in. “London as a teenager was fantastic, it was like heaven for me. I studied and worked at the same time and my goal was to discover what life is all about. Explore and enjoy, and so I did. The move to England was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life. That time has shaped me to who I am today.”
In London, he worked in pubs and restaurants, and gained invaluable experience in the bar and entertainment industry. “When I moved back to Cyprus, I brought ideas and concepts I learned from the UK and implemented them here. My knowledge in the entertainment business was massive as my role models were big party venues in Europe.”
Together with his brother, he opened the Corner Bar, the first British pub in Nicosia. “People enjoyed when we took new concepts to Cyprus. With our philosophy: ‘Understand what people want, like and lack, and provide it to them’, the bar was very successful.”
With the same philosophy he has big plans for Escape Beach Club. This season has been very successful with thousands of visitors every week, and next season will be filled with even more events and activities. Sunday’s foam parties has been a great success and we can expect to see more of these. The summer of 2016 is far from over, and the heat will stay far into October. Escape Beach Club, which usually was open between April and October, will this year have some parts of their business open during the winter months. The plan is to cover the restaurant area with a window system so that the restaurant can be used even during winter, then as a fish restaurant.
The plans for Escape are many and Reshat can not wait to make them into reality. “I’m living my dream, entertaining people with great music and great venues,” he says. “I always tell people: Priorities and responsibilities are of course important but do not forget to enjoy yourselves. Do whatever makes you feel happy.”
