UNSG’s Special Advisor for Cyprus, Espen Barth Eide, will return to Cyprus on Sunday ahead of the leaders next meeting that will take place on Monday in the framework of the UN led resumed Cyprus talks.
An UNFICYP press release notes that Eide will facilitate the leaders meeting on Monday, as the leaders progress in the ongoing substantive negotiations on all unresolved core issues.
The two leaders, Turkish Cypriot President Mustafa Akıncı and Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, will meet again at the Good Offices in the United Nations Protected Area in Nicosia. Eide will remain in Cyprus until Thursday, 2 July to continue his contacts with key interlocutors. In the course of his stay on the island, he will also chair the joint negotiators’ meetings which will be held following the leaders’ meeting.
