Bike shows and festivals to see in month of June

Motorcycle enthusiasts from around the TRNC will be gearing up for a festival double-header this month.

The third Motorcycle and VL Festival will take place on June 7, followed by the International Turkish Riders Cyprus Motorcycle Festival on June 14.

The first event, organised by the ”Mouflon Riders” together with Guzelyurt municipality, will raise funds for disabled adults in the village of Guneskoy.

Starting at 12.30pm, it will be held at the Guzelyurt festival area and will host several activities including music by Turkish Cypriot singer Ahmet Evan and DJ Gencay Dokmecioglu.

Over 400 motorcycles will be on display at the June 14 show, which will take place at Kasgar Court in Girne. A raffle on the day will include prizes such as a shark helmet, Harley Davidson boots, sunglasses, and a chance of winning a custom-built ”bobber” motorbike for 20TL. The event will begin at noon, and will include entertainment by the Niyal Ozturk Band and DJ Ugur Atay.

Elsewhere a children’s show in aid of Help Those With Cancer Association (Tulips) will take place on June 12, 13 and 14 at the Ataturk Stadium in Lefkosa. The entertainment will begin each evening at 6pm, with a ”mascot” children’s show, followed by a ”Kivilcim” (Spark) performance by children dancers from Turkey’s renowned Fire of Anatolia troupe. Tickets cost 30TL, with free entry for children under six years old.

The eighth International Esentepe Zerdali Festival, which started yesterday, will feature a series of night-time concerts throughout the week. They will include performances by Aysun Kaya on Wednesday, Haluk Levent on Thursday, Apolas Lermi on Friday and Edip Akbayram on the closing night next Saturday. All performances are due to start at 9pm.
