Biden backs a ‘reunification of island under a federation’

US Vice-President Joe Biden reaffirmed America’s support for the Cyprus peace talks during a visit to Turkey on Wednesday. He discussed the Cyprus issue during a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, stating that he supported the “reunification of Cyprus under a federation”.

Mr Yıldırım said: ”We especially advise the Greek Cypriot administration not to miss this chance, which was missed the first time.

”The Turkish Cypriot side has always been a victim of isolation and embargoes, despite always being in favour of a solution. Turkish Cypriots have always supported a solution and will this time as well. No one should be conceded about that. It must be remembered that even if there is an agreement, this will be subject to a referendum.”
