The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra (CSO) continues its season of musical journeys with three unique concerts under the name The Unanswered Question starting off in Limassol on Wednesday, continuing in Paphos on Thursday and ending in south Nicosia on Friday.
The concerts will present piano soloist Annini Tsiouti and conductor Christina Athinodorou with the orchestra. All musicians will unite to present a very diverse programme from the sounds of Persia to the modern era off the 20th century.
Audience members will enjoy a performance of Ay-wahda-yorû for chamber orchestra by Cypriot composer Andreas Tsiartas. The composition merges sonic and rhythmical units, based on closely related Persian and African popular poetic meters and other similar rhythmic meters which are present in oral traditions worldwide.
The concerts will also bring to our ear Aubade, concerto choréographique for piano and 18 instruments by Francis Poulenc.
The ballet is based on the myth of Diana, the goddess of the hunt, and her inner conflict between maintaining her chastity and succumbing to love.
