The newly elected Turkish Cypriot President Mustafa Akinci and President of South Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades will meet on Saturday, the government spokesman said.
The two leaders will meet at lunchtime. They are expected to discuss the resumption of negotiations but could also touch upon the substance of the Cyprus problem.
Akinci was elected on Sunday following a landslide victory over Dervis Eroglu.
The meeting was agreed during a telephone conversation the two men had on Tuesday, Nicos Christodoulides said.
The spokesman said the government intended to announce unilateral confidence building measures on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Anastasiades said on Monday that Akinci’s election gave hope that at long last Cyprus will be reunited.
