I had the opportunity to visit Paphos in South Cyprus last week when I drove the family to the airport there.
The city is a tourist centre which is located by the sea, with a nice promenade, many restaurants, cafes and shops. Further up the mountains is the city’s true centre. In and around Paphos there are many attractions like Paphos castle, the Kings’ tombs and Aphrodite’s birthplace.
Travelling by car takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Nicosia.
Paphos, or Baf, as it is called in Turkish, was under the rule of the Roman Empire and the capital is listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
Along the way there are many lookouts to stop and admire the view of Cyprus’s southern coastline.
